Tango, The Dance of the Heart

This is the beginning: One heart dancing. Each heart true to its own strong beat, to each heart its own true dance.

Two hearts consent to join. Bodies, feet, do what they will. He follows the lead of his heart; with her heart she follows.

From the joining of hearts the dance is born. Not of he and she but of he and she in service to it, the heart without check, with original energy.

Circling in the magical direction, a new alchemy takes hold. On a crowded floor, each dance must lose itself in the other. There is only one dance now, and every heart is in it.

The dance of the heart. Tango is life.

Argentine tango offers much to love and much to learn. There is the dance itself, all rigor and improvisation. Also the music, the history, the costumes, and the people who keep tango alive.

And then there are the true tango lessons, the ones you learn when two people step into one another's personal space, connect at the heart, and together create a spontaneous beauty.

This blog is about all of it, but mostly about this: Tango is life.
